IGBT: What’s the Right Choice for Your Power Stage Design? IGBT: What’s the Right Choice for Your Power Stage Design? March 13, 2017 by Lonne Mays. This article will help you understand the different types of power semiconductors: how they work, their key parameters, and trade-offs.
Features of the IGBT Module X Series.Reduces power dissipation to contribute to energy savingThe IGBT and diode devices of Fuji electric’s 7th-generation Xseries that constitute these modules have been made thinnerand miniaturized, thereby optimizing the device structure. Thishas successfully reduced power dissipation in inverter operationcompared with conventional products (Fuji Electric's 6thgenerationV Series), contributing to energy saving and powercost reduction of the equipment on which the module is installed.Achieves equipment size reductionA newly developed insulating substrate has been applied in orderto improve the module’s heat dissipation. Combined with thefeature described above (reduced power dissipation) to suppressheat generation, an approximately 36%.1 reduction has beenachieved in comparison to the conventional module. In addition, the maximum temperature guaranteed in continuous operation hasbeen increased from the conventional 150°C to 175°C, which allowsthe output current to be increased by up to 35%.2 while maintainingthe size of the equipment on which the module is installed.
Thiscontributes to reducing the size and total cost of the equipment.1: Mounting area ratio with 1200 V 75A PIM models.2: Value estimated from simulation resultsContributes to improving equipment reliabilityNewly developed structures and materials of the module haverealized to increase its stability and durability in high-temperatureoperation. This contributes to improving the stability and reliabilityof the equipment on which the module is installed.
